Zoom has increased its security measures

The company reported that it has officially established a special security advisory council.

Zoom has recorded a huge increase in popularity due to the coronavirus outbreak. Unfortunately, due to the high popularity, there were also more and more frequent signals about privacy and application security issues. At the same time, the company decided to make significant changes to its security policy.

One of them is the creation of a special advisory council on user data protection. One of its members is Alex Stamos, who served as Facebook Security Director from 2015 to 2018. Stamos is expected to become one of the external experts to help Zoom conduct a comprehensive review of its platform security.

In addition, the application has made numerous fixes aimed at preventing "zoombombing" phenomena. These include the ability to include a "waiting room", where hosts must first approve participants who wish to participate in a video conference.
