The largest aircraft in the world helps fight against COVID-19

The world's largest transport aircraft An-225 "Mriya" delivered from China to Poland a shipment of personal protective equipment, including masks and medical equipment, weighing about 100 tons.

According to American Jornal Transportation, the aircraft departed from Tianjin airport on April 13 and, having made an intermediate landing for refueling and rest of the crew at Almaty airport (Kazakhstan), continued its flight to Warsaw.

According to the An-225 operator Antonov, the Mriya cargo bay has a capacity of 1,200 cubic metres and a cargo capacity of 275 tonnes.

It should not be forgotten that the AN-225 is an outstanding aircraft produced in the Soviet Union in the late 1980s and is a single copy. It was specially designed for transportation of reusable ship "Buran" to Baikonur cosmodrome.

The An-225 "Mriya" is considerably superior to its American competitor G-5M Super Galaxy. Its length is 84 m, height is 18.2 m and wingspan is 88.4 m. The aircraft has recently undergone a significant upgrade.

The An-225 has joined the transport missions of other heavy airliners delivering medical supplies needed to fight the COVID-19 pandemic around the world.
