Renault stops producing combustion engines

This is how the company commented on the sale of shares of Dongfeng Motor Corporation (Dongfeng). In China, Renault will focus exclusively on the production of electric cars.

"We are moving forward in China. At the new level, the company needs to concentrate on electric cars and light commercial vehicles. We will try to leverage our relationship with Nissan. Together we can achieve more in the development of green transport" commented François Provost, Chairman of the Renault Board in China.

This strategy is still only relevant to the Chinese automotive market. There is still a long way to go in Europe.  The recent presentation of Renault Spring, which is planned to be assembled at Dacia facilities, may soon accelerate the process of electrification. The main problem of electric cars is the lack of a budget model range with adequate characteristics.

What remains for Renault in a fuel segment of China?

Renault will deal, as before, with after-sales service through its dealers. For today it is about 300 thousand clients all over the country.

Further activities also include the supply of components, power units and diesel fuel for Dongfeng in cooperation with Nissan.

Earlier Renault Trucks announced the mass production of electric trucks D Z.E. and D Wide Z.E. With a battery capacity of 300 kWh, it can overcome up to 300 km on one charge. The 248 hp electric motor can be spun up to 425 N*m. Carrying capacity of environmentally friendly truck is 17 tons.
