Latest Intel laptop processors first surpassed the 5 GHz mark

Manufacturers of gaming notebooks rushed to master new chips in the Intel Core H series, which belong to the 10th generation. Previously, they were available only for desktop PCs, but now you can appreciate what the processor with a frequency above 5 GHz can and on a mobile device. Intel believes that at least a hundred new models of gaming notebooks with Comet Lake-H chips will be released this year.

The line traditionally includes three classes of processors. The top Intel Core i9 runs at 5.3 GHz, has 8 cores and supports 16 streams. In the middle of the chip i7, which can have 6 or 8 cores and a maximum frequency of 5.1 GHz. The lower class is i5, with 4 cores and a frequency of 4.6 GHz. However, the true performance is slightly different and depends entirely on the fine tuning of the chip during operation.

Intel has prepared an impressive set of tools for Comet Lake-H. Speed Optimizer and Extreme Tuning Utility are the official tools for chip overclocking. Thermal Velocity Boost balances temperature and power consumption. Adaptix Dynamic Tuning controls the fans, keeping the temperature of the chip at the right level and preventing it from turning off. Intel Turbo Boost Max 3.0 checks the cores and redirects tasks to those that are currently capable of running at maximum speed.
