Intel NUC 9 Extreme is one of the best among compact gaming PCs

The Intel NUC series of computers has always attracted users' attention. It is a powerful minicomputer measuring only 238x216x96 mm, designed for enthusiasts who prefer compactness.

Compared to previous models, the slightly larger Intel NUC 9 may seem like a step back. However, it is still much smaller than any desktop computer with a discrete graphics processor. To ensure this, Intel developers used a modular circuitry that allows you to connect any graphics card up to 8 inches in length to your PC.

Intel also developed a removable computing element that includes a mobile processor, two notebook RAM slots, and space for two SSD M.2 disks. Another M.2 slot is hidden inside the case. The power supply is provided by a compact 500-watt power supply.

Opening the NUC 9 Extreme is easy. To do so, remove the top of the case by removing the two screws and sliding the two side panels outwards. The computer processor slides out like a PCIe board, although a few tiny wires will need to be removed.

The NUC 9 port set is determined by the connected computing element and the GPU. One of the top kits includes two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, four USB 3.1 Type A ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI. The graphics processor provides DisplayPort as well as an HDMI and DVI slot.
