Samsung will hire a record number of specialists in the field of chip manufacturing

Samsung's behavior speaks of striving to strengthen market position

Referring to industry representatives, the source concluded this working week with a message that Samsung Electronics will attract a record number of experienced workers in the field of chip manufacturing in the current half-year.

South Korean technology giant said its device solutions division (DS) is looking for experienced employees in 51 specialties. The number of vacancies is not specified, but according to unofficial data it may be the largest in the history of the unit. DS includes three areas of activity: memory manufacturing, LSI manufacturing, and contract manufacturing of semiconductor products.

Samsung acts amid fears that local companies, on the contrary, may cut staff due to the new coronavirus. According to a recent survey conducted by the Korea Institute for Economic Research (KERI) in the 500 largest South Korean firms, a quarter of them intend to reduce or at least not increase the number of employees in the current half year.

Representatives of the industry are confident that Samsung's behavior testifies to the company's desire to strengthen its position in the semiconductor manufacturing market.
