Airbnb provides free accommodation to everyone who helps fight the pandemic

Airbnb Home Rental Services introduced a new program with a slogan like this: "Find homes for 100,000 people who help fight the coronavirus".

With the support of homeowners, Airbnb is committed to providing a place to rest for 100,000 medical professionals, emergency workers and others involved in the fight against the pandemic who need to be closer to their workplace.

According to Airbnb, the initiative is similar to programs adopted in Italy and France.  6000 landlords already offer their homes to doctors, nurses, caregivers and other staff.

The program is an expanded version of the 2012 Airbnb Open Homes project, which allows hosts to provide homes for those in need in emergency situations.

As part of the program, Airbnb has announced that it is ready to pay the French who have provided free accommodation to the aforementioned categories of citizens a bonus of €50 as compensation for cleaning costs and cancel all service charges for them. It is not individual apartments that can participate in the programme, but entire houses. A similar initiative will affect Italy, which has been most affected by the COVID-19 epidemic in Europe.
