Coronavirus appeared at Samsung smartphone factory

The coronavirus epidemic, whose first focus is in China, is beginning to spread to other countries. There were isolated cases even in Europe. The disease also has a significant impact on the functioning of the electronics market.

Samsung has just confirmed that one of the employees in Gumi, South Korea, has been identified as coronavirus infected. The company said in a press release that the entire plant was already closed for the weekend, and access and work to the floor where the infected person worked had been stopped. Moreover, all who contacted the infected are already quarantined. They will also be tested for virus.

This plant mainly manufactures smartphones designed for the South Korean market, so closing it will not affect the supply of phones to other markets or the work of other factories in South Korea. However, it cannot be denied that this is another case where an outbreak of coronavirus affects the operation of electronics manufacturing plants.
